American Airlines will begin flights to Acapulco and Huatulco from DFW airport

The summer heat has not yet reached the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but American Airlines already wants travelers to think about winter.

“The winter starts in just 226 days,” proclaimed the Fort Worth airline, announcing flights to two new destinations in Mexico and five in the Caribbean on Thursday.

It will also have eight new routes within the United States.

Ticket sales start on Monday. And why so much in advance?

“By analyzing our route network in Latin America and the Caribbean we saw unique growth opportunities, in order to provide more service to the destinations that our customers value most,” said Vasu Raja, vice president of networks and flight planning for the airline.

In Mexico, American will launch a new service on December 21 from the DFW to the resorts of Acapulco and Huatulco with flights from Tuesday to Saturday.

Also, as of December 18, it will offer a daily route from Phoenix to Chihuahua.

With this, the airline supplements its daily non-stop service from the DFW to the business center located about four hours south of El Paso.

DFW and O’Hare will be the starting points for the new service to St. Thomas.

On December 18, the airline will reinforce its service to South America with a second daily flight between DFW and the airports of San José and Liberia in Costa Rica.
