Home Activities Las Parotas, Huatulco’s Premier Golf Course Las Parotas, Huatulco’s Premier Golf Course by Brent May December 2, 2022 by Brent May 716 An 18-hole premier golf course, Las Parotas was redesigned by Agustín Pizá, a Mexican golf course architect whose designs are known for delivering quality, sustainability, aesthetic and strategic golf courses. A public course with a private course feel, Las Parotas is in a beautiful area with mountain views surrounded by greenery making it a truly special place. Agustín Pizá is a Member of the European Institute and the American Society of Golf Course Architects. For more than two decades Pizá has collaborated with legends of the game and world class golf developments. He is an award-winning architect who earned his Master’s Degree in golf architecture from Edinburgh University. Las Parotas Golf Course gets its name from the Parota trees that can be seen throughout the course. These giant trees are one of the largest in our dry forest area along the Oaxaca Coast. Also known as the Huancaxtle or the Elephant-ear tree, the Parota commonly grows to 30-40 meters high with a trunk diameter of up to 4 meters. The Par 72 7,010-yard championship-quality course reopened in 2014 and stretches from the dense jungle and mountains right down to the Pacific Ocean. Each hole on the course is designed around existing trees with sustainability as the main design goal. Enjoy the amazing scenery where the large trees and water serve up a challenging layout for all levels. The course is outstanding and well-maintained. It is not crowded making the pace of play enjoyable. A pro shop, golf instruction and driving range are available. A restaurant and bar catered by Dreams Resort is available on-site. The restaurant serves up Sunday brunch. Greens fees from Monday through Thursday are 2700 pesos, from Friday to Sunday 4000 pesos, junior fees for under 16 years of age are 950 pesos. The rates include the greens fee, shared cart, range balls, and refreshments like beer, water and snacks from the bar-cart during the 18-hole rounds. Caddies are available with prior reservation for 500 pesos. Clubs can be rented for 750. Rider’s fee is 600 pesos and replay fee is 800 pesos (same day depending on availability.)
